At Civic Consulting, Don Laackman took a lead role in education and workforce development initiatives. He worked with clients on strategy development, organization start-up, and program and project management and implementation. He also served as an on-loan senior executive to clients.

After joining Civic Consulting in 2008, Don helped launch the Chicago Workforce Investment Council (CWIC) and aided their efforts to align over $360 million in workforce development funding flowing to Chicago with the needs of businesses. Don served on the leadership team at City Colleges of Chicago, assisting the Chancellor with the effort to Reinvent City Colleges to better ensure student success. He also advised Chicago Public Schools on developing their strategy to re-vamp the Career and Technical Education programs delivered to over 25,000 high school students, as featured by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.

Before joining Civic Consulting, Don served as a managing director at Accenture, a global technology, consulting and outsourcing firm. Don held a variety of leadership positions within the industry team, including managing director of the North American insurance program, Managing Partner of the Central Region Insurance Practice, and Managing Director of Learning Business Process Outsourcing for Insurance. Don chairs the Chicago board of Genesys Works, an organization that connects high school students to technology internships. He serves on the Visiting Committee for the Dean of the College at the University of Chicago and the Visiting Committee for the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago. Don sits on the Advisory Board for CWICstats, the program evaluation arm of CWIC.  Don holds an AB in Politics, Economics, Rhetoric and Law and a Master in Public Policy, both from the University of Chicago.
