Economic Growth

Chicago aspires to be a great, global city.  In many ways, it already is. Historically a regional powerhouse and known for its livability and quality of life, Chicago is the only large Midwestern city that has managed not only to maintain its strength into modern times but also to evolve into a world-class city. Today, as one of the world’s largest commercial and financial services centers, an academic stronghold that is home to some of the nation’s best universities, and a source of internationally recognized culture and entertainment, Chicago can claim a position within the global community.

Yet that position is far from inviolable.  Cities compete globally for employers, talented workers, tourists, and investment.  Like many cities around the world today, Chicago needs to address significant challenges if it is to sustain and, more importantly, build from its current position.

Our goal is to position Chicago to become to be one of the world’s top livable cities by developing new investment, asset development, and growth mechanisms that promote urban vibrancy.
