Bus Tracker for Business

Civic Consulting Alliance partnered with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and Jennifer Henry to help the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) advertise its Bus Tracker for Business tools. These tools are part of a larger effort to implement the Chicago Climate Action Plan and Transportation Report by providing the public with more access to real-time transit information, making transit easier to ride at no additional cost to the public sector. Among other outreach activities, NRDC has held several trainings for Chicago's Green Office Challenge participants. Resulting from these trainings, Echo Global Logistics, a sister company to Groupon, converted half of their existing office display screens to show the arrival times for nearby buses. This raised awareness of transit options for their 650 employees, enabling them to catch their next bus. NRDC also helped CTA to communicate the benefits of transit tracker displays to retailers and business owners through trade associations, conferences, and targeted outreach.

This was one of the 14 near term initiatives under the Transportation Committee for the Chicago Climate Action Plan.
