Chicago Climate Action Plan: Transportation Committee
The Chicago Climate Action Plan (CCAP) is Chicago's sustainability plan that targets reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by 2020 and 80% by 2050, measured from a baseline year of 1990. Since its release in 2008, CCAP has received international and national acclaims for its scientific and action-oriented approach
Transportation represents 21% of the city's greenhouse gas emissions. Lowering emissions from this sector requires coordination across multiple organizations and stakeholders to develop solutions that cover public transit, bicycling, walking, car sharing, energy-efficient vehicles and the development of transit-oriented neighborhoods.
Civic Consulting Alliance worked with the Department of Environment to launch and manage the Transportation Committee for the Chicago Climate Action Plan. The Committee's goal was to prioritize, coordinate, and innovate across 14 near-term initiatives based on the strategy developed by Boston Consulting Group.
