Project Description:
McGladrey volunteered its expertise on a bro bono basis to assist President Toni Preckwinkle on a "desk audit."For the 2,000 employees under her purview, McGladrey surveyed a sample of employees within Cook County’s Office of The President to assess:
- The alignment of their job duties with their department’s mission, their job description, with other jobs in their particular job family progression
- Base salaries with their salary grade and compared with the external market
- Their perspectives on how the County can become a more effective organization.
This survey helped Cook County become a more transparent and effective organization, by:
- Pinpointing where job titles and documented job duties do not match the work currently being performed
- Identifying the gaps between the type of work currently performed in certain departments and the goals expressed by the leaders in those departments
- Identifying the skills and talents they need to attract and retain
- Identifying the market competitiveness of cash compensation and current pay ranges.
