Dejah Powell

Dejah joined the Civic Consulting Alliance team as an analyst in July of 2018. Dejah currently works in the Economic Vitality platform with the West Side United project.

Prior to Civic Consulting Alliance, Dejah interned at a local organization that combines art, education, and urban agriculture to transform vacant spaces. She has also founded her own organization, Get Them to the Green, to connect youth with nature, environmental education, and urban agriculture on Chicago’s south side.

Dejah, a Chicago native, graduated from Cornell University where she studied Environmental and Sustainability Science and minored in Business and Community Food Systems. On campus, Dejah was a Rawlings Scholar, a research program which supported her senior thesis on food apartheid in Chicago. In her free time, Dejah enjoys traveling, gardening, roaming bookstores, and biking along the lake.
