Mark Van Grinsven
Mark is a Senior Consultant at Civic Consulting Alliance. Since joining Civic Consulting in 2015, he has worked in the education, public safety and economic vitality practice areas, including projects related to financial literacy, data analytics, organizational structure, strategy and training.
Currently, Mark is working on an economic vitality project as well as partner and staff development and supports Civic Consulting’s external communication strategy.
Prior to joining Civic Consulting, Mark had an extensive and varied financial services career with The Northern Trust Company. After a range of corporate banking roles, including large corporate, middle market and commercial real estate, Mark moved into Northern’s institutional asset servicing and asset management businesses. That period included five years as General Manager of the bank’s London Branch, functioning as the Region Executive for Europe/Africa/Middle East. Returning to the Chicago head office, Mark took on a risk management role and then assumed responsibility for the firm’s global securities finance business. He concluded his Northern Trust career as Chief Credit Officer for the corporation, responsible for managing credit risk globally for all lending, trading and money market exposures.
Mark earned his BBA in Finance (with highest honors) from the University of Notre Dame and received an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. His personal interests include travel, golf, music and reading. He serves as a Director of Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund and was a Trustee of Roosevelt University from 2006-16.
