Veenu is a Principal at Civic Consulting Alliance. She joined Civic Consulting Alliance in 2017 and currently leads the Education platform where she has worked on a range of projects from developing a Pre-K - 2 Early Learning Strategy, supporting COVID mitigation response, and scaling student re-engagement efforts. She has also strengthened racial health equity efforts through projects such as incubating and launching the health equity collaborative West Side United and coordinating the City's Racial Equity Rapid Response Team during the COVID crisis.

Prior to joining Civic Consulting Alliance, Veenu spent eleven years at Chicago Public Schools. She served as the Executive Director of Early College and Career Education (ECCE) for Chicago Public Schools and led the district’s portfolio of career–related high school programming for 18,000 students. She also managed the district’s early college efforts which include launching five Early College STEM high schools. Prior to joining ECCE, she led the district’s Human Resources Employee Service Center where she focused her efforts on improving customer service and decreasing turnaround time. Veenu participated in The Broad Residency in Urban Education Cohort 2005-07, completing her two-year Residency in Chicago Public Schools.

Before the Residency, Veenu spent six years in management consulting at Arthur Andersen and Protiviti Consulting. Her projects focused on designing and implementing strategic, operational and compliance-driven solutions for a diverse mix of clients ranging from the retail, utility and manufacturing sectors to corporate legal departments and higher education.

Veenu holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Chicago. In her spare time, she enjoys attending her daughter's dance performances, following local politics, and gardening.
