Ameena Ahmed

University of Chicago Metcalf Fellow

Ameena is a current fourth-year student at the University of Chicago completing a joint BA/MA in Middle Eastern Studies. On campus, she is involved with leading community service projects for the Muslim Students Association.

Previously, Ameena worked with Chicago Public Schools' Office of Equity to revamp the Equity Toolkit for the 2023-24 school year. She assisted the team in auditing school mascots and names to ensure compliance with the district's updated equity values. Ameena has also interned with Hands Along The Nile Development Services (HANDS) to assist in grant submissions on behalf of vocational and agricultural organizations in Cairo and Upper Egypt.

As a native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Ameena enjoys biking and hiking mountain trails.
