Sam Abbott

Associate Principal

Sam is an Associate Principal at Civic Consulting Alliance. He joined the organization as a Senior Associate in August 2019.  Sam primarily focuses on projects in our Economic Vitality platform and has served several clients at the City and County including the Chicago Mayor's Office for Business, Economic, and Neighborhood Development (BEND) and Cook County's Bureau of Economic Development (BED).

Previously, Sam worked in the City Performance Unit of the City & County of San Francisco where he advanced multiple strategic initiatives including the SF Data Academy and Citywide Benchmarking Report. Prior to his time in San Francisco, Sam worked as a financial analyst at Urban Partnership Bank – a Chicago-based community development bank dedicated to stimulating economic development in underserved communities.

Sam holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management with a major in finance and concentration in social impact. For the duration of his second year of business school, he interned with Impact Engine, a venture capital/private equity impact investing firm. Sam graduated with a BA in public policy from the University of Chicago and in his free time enjoys watching documentaries and exploring Chicago by bike.
